How many gunas should match?
Traditionally 18 or more out of 36 is taken as acceptable. But the number alone decides nothing — the nadi and bhakoot exceptions, both whole charts and, above all, the two people matter.
What is nadi dosha?
When both have the same nadi (Adi, Madhya or Antya), the nadi koota scores 0. The texts list several exceptions, such as the same Moon sign with different nakshatras. We show the exceptions that apply; astrologers differ on how far an exception offsets the dosha.
Does being manglik rule out a marriage?
No. Manglik placement is very common. We show both sides and the mitigations the texts list. When both are manglik, tradition reads it as balanced.
What if a birth time is unknown?
Gun milan depends mainly on the Moon, which stays about 2¼ days in a sign, so an approximate time usually gives the right score — except on a day the Moon changes sign or nakshatra. Manglik needs the time.
Can I use ‘Person 1 / 2’ instead of boy and girl?
Yes. The tables count differently for the two sides, so Person 1 is counted in the groom’s place and Person 2 in the bride’s.
