Fire in a dream is often read as auspicious in Indian folk tradition, especially a calm flame: a diya, a havan or the kitchen fire stands for growth, energy and a lively home. Fire in tradition
The very first hymn of the Rig Veda praises Agni. Fire is the messenger that carries offerings to the gods, so it is witness to every havan and yajna. A Hindu wedding is sealed by seven rounds of the sacred fire; Diwali is a festival of lamps; Holika burns on the eve of Holi; people dance around the Lohri bonfire. A lit kitchen fire still means a household that is running.
So the dream lists broadly treat fire as life-force. Interestingly, several old lists read even a house catching fire not as a bad sign but as growth or a big change. Smoke and ash, on the other hand, are tied to confusion. The lists do not fully agree.

What psychology says
Fire is the image of the strongest feelings: anger, passion, love, jealousy. Everyday speech says the same, when we call someone fiery or say a person is burning up with rage. A falling-out, pressure at work or a surge of enthusiasm can all turn into flames at night.
Dreams of a house burning often come during pressure or change around the home: moving, a family division, a new arrival. And sometimes the cause is only that the room was hot.
After you wake
First reassure yourself that this dream is not news of an accident. Then ask which feeling is burning hottest these days; naming it is the first step to cooling it. Checking the gas and wiring out of habit is sensible, but there is no need to fear because of a dream.
