The moon in a dream is mostly read as auspicious in Indian folk tradition: peace of mind, a mother's affection, happiness at home and some sweet news. That is tradition, not a prediction; a dream moon is neither a promise nor a warning. The Hindi search is sapne mein chand dekhna.
The moon in tradition
The Purusha Sukta says chandrama manaso jatah, the moon was born of the mind, which is why jyotish treats the Moon as the significator of mind and mother. Shiva wears the crescent on his head; the Karva Chauth fast is broken on sighting the moon; kheer is left out in the moonlight on Sharad Purnima; and the sighting of the Eid moon is joy for a whole neighbourhood. Children call it Chanda Mama, uncle moon, and the fondest compliment for a child is chand ka tukda, a piece of the moon.
With so much warmth around it, the dream lists tie the moon to coolness and contentment. A waxing moon means growth, a full moon completeness. On eclipses or a clouded moon the lists urge a little care, but they do not agree with each other.

What psychology says
The moon is night's companion, so it often carries loneliness, memory and comfort all at once. People living away from home, especially far from their mother, often dream of the moon, the same moon visible from the roof back home. It is common at the start of a relationship too, because in our songs the moon is the language of love.
The bright light of a full moon makes some people sleep more lightly, and dreams from light sleep are remembered more easily.
