Frequently asked questions
What is gochar?
Gochar means the planets’ current movement. A birth chart is the sky at the moment of birth; gochar is today’s sky. Tradition reads a transit by the house it falls in counted from your birth Moon sign.
Why can times differ by a few minutes from other almanacs?
Three choices move them: the ayanamsa (we use Lahiri), the true or mean node for Rahu, and the time zone. Our planet ingresses agree with Swiss Ephemeris within 2 minutes; Rahu and Ketu move slowly, so theirs can differ by up to 15.
What does a retrograde planet mean?
Seen from Earth, a planet sometimes appears to move backward — an effect of the orbits, not real backward motion. Tradition treats these periods as good for review and finishing old work, not as a reason for fear.
