Our New Delhi calendar has 113 good vivah muhurat days in 2027, with the biggest wedding seasons in February, May, June and November. August, September and October 2027 have no wedding dates at all, because chaturmas runs from 14 July to 10 November, and January, March, April, July and December are thin because of kharmas and Venus combustion.
Below is the full list month by month, the reason behind every gap, the rules we use and why a list from another almanac may not match ours. The dates come from our own engine; the vivah muhurat 2027 page is the live source and shows the exact time windows for each day.

| March | 9 | Meen kharmas from 16 Mar |

For comparison, 2026 ends with the same pattern: August, September and October 2026 also have no dates (chaturmas), November 2026 has 5 and December 2026 has 8.

Two days worth a note. 11 February 2027 is Vasant Panchami, which many families treat as a self-auspicious (abujh) day; it also passes our rules. 15 January 2027, the day of Makar Sankranti, is the first date of the year.
Why some months are empty or thin
Five things close whole days in our calendar. Each is checked at sunrise, so a block that begins in the middle of a day closes the next day onwards.
Kharmas (January, March–April, December)
Kharmas is the month the Sun spends in sidereal Sagittarius (Dhanu) or Pisces (Meen). Tradition does not hold weddings in it.
- The Sun is in Sagittarius from 16 Dec 2026 10:25 to 14 Jan 2027 21:10. That is why there are no dates from 1 to 14 January; read more on the kharmas 2026 page.
- The Sun is in Pisces from 15 Mar 2027 07:00 to 14 Apr 2027 15:28, so our calendar blocks 16 March to 14 April. The last March dates are 14 and 15 March and April opens on the 16th.
- The next Dhanu kharmas begins on 16 Dec 2027 at 16:38, so December 2027 stops after the 14th. Both 2027 periods are on the kharmas 2027 page.
Chaturmas (mid-July to early November)
Chaturmas is the four months from Devshayani Ekadashi to Dev Uthani Ekadashi, when tradition says Vishnu rests and weddings wait. In 2027 it runs from 14 July to 10 November; our calendar blocks 14 July to 9 November, and the first November date is the 10th. The chaturmas 2027 page has the details.
Venus and Jupiter combust (Shukra and Guru asta)
Venus (Shukra) and Jupiter (Guru) are the two planets of marriage in muhurat practice. When either is too close to the Sun it is called combust (asta) and weddings are avoided.
- Venus combust: 6 July to 17 September 2027; our engine blocks 7 July to 17 September. This is why July stops after the 6th even before chaturmas begins.
- Jupiter combust: 16 August to 15 September 2027; our engine blocks 17 August to 14 September.
August 2027 is therefore closed three times over: chaturmas, Venus combust and, for half the month, Jupiter combust. There is no adhik maas in 2027, so that block plays no part this year.
The rules we use
A wedding window in our calendar must satisfy all of these at every moment:
- The Moon is in one of the 11 classical vivah nakshatras: Rohini, Mrigashira, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Mula, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati.
- The tithi is any tithi except Shukla Pratipada, Krishna Chaturdashi and Amavasya.
- The time is not in Rahu kaal, not in Vishti (Bhadra) karana, and not under the Vyatipata or Vaidhriti yoga.
- None of the blocks above (kharmas, chaturmas, adhik maas, Jupiter or Venus combust) is active.
- The day runs from sunrise to the next sunrise, because many weddings take place at night.
Every weekday is allowed. We widened the tithi and weekday rules after comparing our list with the dates families actually marry on: a strict classical subset turned away well-used dates. The full reasoning is on how we calculate muhurat.
What we do not do is fix the wedding lagna for the couple. That depends on the exact phera time and on both horoscopes, and it is the part a family priest refines. Matching the two charts is a separate step; our free kundli matching gives the gun milan score, and our post on gun milan and the 36 gunas explains what the score means.
Why other 2027 lists differ
If you compare our dates with another calendar you will find days that appear in one and not the other. That is normal, and the reasons are usually these:
- Combustion. Some almanacs time Shukra asta and Guru asta by a fixed distance from the Sun (as we do: within 10 degrees for Venus, 11 for Jupiter). Others use the date the planet stops being visible, which can move the start or end by several days, especially around July and September.
- Bhadra. Some lists allow the tail of Vishti (bhadra punchha); we avoid all of it.
- Tithi and weekday. Stricter lists accept only certain tithis and weekdays and so show fewer days. Looser lists add days that we leave out.
- City. Sunrise, Rahu kaal and the moments at which tithis and nakshatras change are tied to a place. Our list is for New Delhi. A date close to a cut-off can fall differently in Chennai or Kolkata.
- Lagna and personal factors. Some priests remove days on the basis of the couple's charts or the bride's and groom's birth stars. A general list cannot do that.
None of these is a mistake. They are different, defensible choices, and we prefer to show ours openly.
How to use this list
Start with the season that suits the family, then narrow down. Open the month page to see the time windows for each day and the reasons a nearby day failed. Check that the window falls at an hour that works for the ceremony, since some days are good only before noon or only late at night. If timing in your own life is the bigger question, our post on when marriage happens in a kundli looks at that side. For a festival date or a local sunrise, the panchang has every day of the year.
Try it yourself
Open the free vivah muhurat 2027 page and pick a month to see each day's windows for New Delhi, with the reason any date was left out. The muhurat tool also covers griha pravesh and other occasions, and kundli matching checks the couple's charts in a few seconds.
