Among the birth dates there are small shades. Someone born on the 6th tends to carry the number in its plainest form. The 15th adds the 1 and 5 behind it, often read as a more outgoing, persuasive 6. "Asks for more patience" means exactly that. A 6 with a 1-born boss may find the Sun's directness blunt; a 6 with a 2-born partner may find that both of them are waiting for the other to raise a problem. The mulank uses only the day of birth and is read as instinct: how you react before thinking. The bhagyank uses the full date and is read as the larger direction of life. So a mulank 6 describes someone whose first impulse is to create harmony; a bhagyank 6 describes a life whose work tends to gather around care, beauty and responsibility for others, whatever the person's first reactions are like. Where traditions differ
- Cheiro's pairings. Cheiro, the best-known writer of the Western Chaldean school, also gives 6 to Venus, but he draws friendships by a different logic, grouping 3, 6 and 9 together. Popular Hindi lists often follow him, or mix his pairs with the graha friendships. That is why a website may call 3 or 9 a close friend of 6 where our table says neutral. Neither is an arithmetic error; they are different schools. Cheiro also reads 4 as Uranus and 7 as Neptune, pairing 1 with 4 and 2 with 7, which Indian practice does not.
- Born between midnight and sunrise. The civil date changes at midnight, but the Hindu day begins at sunrise. Someone born at 3 a.m. on the 15th is 6 by the calendar, yet by the Hindu day they belong to the 14th, which gives 5. Practitioners differ here, so it is worth knowing both numbers.
