Mulank 7 people are traditionally described as reflective, private and searching: they want to know what lies underneath things, and they are often happiest with a hard question and an afternoon to themselves.

What mulank 7 means
Ketu is one of the two shadow grahas, the south node of the Moon, a point in the sky rather than a body. The story gives it a head-less form, and the classical reading follows from that image: Ketu is the graha that does not look outward for approval. It is the karaka of detachment, spiritual insight and moksha, of skills carried over from the past, and of sudden cuts that end one chapter so another can begin.
As a mulank, read as the first instinct, 7 shows up as a pull inward. Where another number reacts to a situation by talking or acting, a 7 often goes quiet first and observes. It notices what is not being said. It tends to trust its own intuition more than the loudest opinion in the room, and it can often sense how something will unfold before it can explain why.
The three dates colour it differently. The 7th gives the number in its plainest form. The 16th carries 1 and 6 behind it, often read as a 7 with more self-direction and a stronger eye for beauty. The 25th carries 2 and 5, a 7 that is more communicative and curious about people. These are shades, not separate types.
Strengths
- Depth of attention. A 7 can stay with a subject long after others have moved on: a manuscript, a line of code, a raga, a family history. The reward is understanding that others only skim.

In daily life that patience is easy to picture. A 5, quick, talkative and fond of change, may want to fill every silence the 7 is trying to keep, while the 7 may seem slow to a 5 that has already moved on. These are associations the tradition has noticed, not a list to choose from. A 7 in sales or management often brings the same quality, the one who reads the situation correctly. No number guarantees success or earnings in any field.
Mulank 7 and bhagyank 7
The mulank comes from the birth day and describes instinct. The bhagyank comes from the full date and describes the larger direction of life. A mulank 7 is someone whose first reaction is to step back and look; a bhagyank 7 describes a life that tends to turn, over the years, towards study, inner work or specialist knowledge, whatever the person's first reactions are like. Having both sevens deepens the theme; having only one lets another number balance it.
Where traditions differ
- Ketu or Neptune. This is the largest disagreement for 7. Cheiro and the Western Chaldean school he popularised give 7 to Neptune (and link it with the Moon), and read 4 as Uranus, pairing 1 with 4 and 2 with 7. Indian ank jyotish gives 7 to Ketu and 4 to Rahu, the two nodes. The temperaments overlap, dreamy, intuitive, unconventional, but the relationship tables come out differently. Our table happens to agree with Cheiro that 2 is friendly to 7, for a different reason: the Moon is a friend of Mars.
- Popular Hindi lists. Many mix Cheiro's pairings with the graha friendships, so you will see lists that differ from ours. Neither is an arithmetic error; they are different schools.
- Born between midnight and sunrise. The civil date changes at midnight, but the Hindu day begins at sunrise. Someone born at 2 a.m. on the 16th is 7 by the calendar and, by the Hindu day, still on the 15th, which gives 6. Practitioners differ, so it is worth knowing both.
- No master numbers. 16 and 25 reduce to 7 directly. Indian ank jyotish keeps no 11, 22 or 33.
A calm closing
A mulank shows tendencies, not fate. One number from the day of birth cannot describe a whole person, and it says nothing fixed about what will happen to you.
