Tradition splits two ways on a rat in a dream: as Ganesh's mount, a white or calm rat is auspicious, while rats gnawing grain or scurrying about are linked in many lists to small expenses or worries. That is belief, not a forecast. The Hindi search is sapne mein chuha dekhna.
The rat in tradition
Ganesh rides a mushak, a rat or mouse. In one story the mushak was once an arrogant demon whom Ganesh humbled by making him his mount, so the little animal also stands for "great power in a small thing". At the Karni Mata temple in Deshnoke, Rajasthan, thousands of rats are kept as sacred, and seeing a white one there is thought very lucky. In the storeroom at home, though, a rat chews through grain and cloth, so in daily life it is also a picture of loss.

What psychology says
A rat is small, yet its presence steals your peace: scratching at night, a noise behind the wall. In dreams it often takes the form of the small worries that gnaw at the mind all day: little bills, unfinished jobs, a remark someone made. Many people find rats disgusting or frightening, and that feeling carries into the dream. If there really are rats at home, the dream may come straight from that.
A simple thought
If the dream was full of rats, write down the small things that are bothering you these days. Worries on paper tend to shrink. No remedy is needed.
