Honey (madhu) is treated as pure in Indian homes: it goes into panchamrit alongside milk, curd, ghee and sugar, and Ayurveda values it as a carrier for other medicines. In myth, Kamadeva's sugarcane bow is strung with a line of humming bees, and the goddess in her Bhramari form appears surrounded by countless bees.
Everyday speech praises someone "as hard-working as a bee", while chhatte mein haath daalna, putting your hand in the hive, means asking for trouble. In villages a new hive on a tree was often taken as a sign of a good harvest and a full house. From all this the dream lists tie bees to effort, organisation and sweet results. Bees bring two feelings together: sweetness and sting. So in dreams they often picture the work or setting you are busiest in, whether home, office or a shared duty, that is rewarding and tiring at the same time. A hive's tight coordination is a natural image of a team; if everything in the dream was calm, you may simply feel in step with your people. A chasing swarm is often the shape many demands take when they arrive together.
If the sting worried you
A dream sting is not real, so there is nothing to fear in it. Just check whether you are carrying more than your share lately, or whether someone's remark has lodged in your mind. If a real bee sting ever causes heavy swelling or breathing trouble, that is a matter for a doctor, not for dream books.
