Cancer, Karka rashi in Hindi, is the fourth sign of the sidereal zodiac (90° to 120°): a movable water sign ruled by the Moon. It is the Moon's only home, the sign where Jupiter is exalted and Mars debilitated, and as a Moon sign it describes a feeling, protective and memory-rich mind.
Rashi, lagna and Sun sign
When an Indian astrologer asks your rashi, they mean the Moon's sign at birth, your janma rashi. The lagna is the sign that was rising in the east.
