Mars in the 6th house places the commander of the planetary court in the house of enemies, obstacles, debts, illness and service. Tradition reads it as one of Mars's most comfortable positions: the fighter in the house of the fight, usually on the winning side.

- Resilience in health. The body tends to recover quickly and respond well to exercise. This is the tradition's symbolism of vitality, not a medical judgement; the 6th is read with the lagna and its lord for anything about health.
The 6th is a dusthana, one of the three difficult houses (6th, 8th, 12th), and also an upachaya house, where things improve with time and effort. Traditional authors who give house-by-house results broadly praise Mars in the 6th, associating it with victory over enemies, strong appetite, prosperity and renown. - Fearing a dusthana. For Mars, the 6th is a house of advantage, not of loss.
- Confusing competition with hostility. The placement describes the capacity to win, not a life full of enemies.
