Brihat Jataka treats the Moon in the lagna as favourable when the rising sign is Aries, Taurus or Cancer, and describes it in much harsher terms in other signs. Common misreadings
- Treating it as moodiness. Visible feelings are not the same as instability; a bright Moon in the lagna often makes a person emotionally intelligent.
- Forgetting the phase. A lagna Moon a day from the new moon and one at full moon are very different grahas.
- Doubling the reading carelessly. Because lagna and Moon sign coincide, some readers count every factor twice. It confirms themes; it does not double their weight.
