- Aries lagna: Rahu in Taurus with Venus as dispositor. Venus rules the 2nd and 7th for Aries, both maraka houses, and is also the karaka of comforts. A well-placed Venus gives this Rahu a taste for fine things and the means to pay for them.
- Cancer lagna: Rahu in Leo, dispositor the Sun, lord of the 2nd only. The Sun and Rahu are at odds, so money and family dignity can swing; the Sun's placement decides the tone.

These are statements about a Rahu with no support, and astrologers traditionally modify them heavily for the dispositor and aspects.
Common misreadings
- "Rahu in the 2nd means lying." The texts point to speech that is unconventional or exaggerated. Many people with this placement simply speak persuasively or in more than one language.
- Fear of the maraka label. Maraka is a technical term in longevity work and does not predict anything by itself.
- Reading it without the 2nd lord. Here the 2nd lord is Rahu's dispositor, so it controls most of the result.
- Mixing tropical and sidereal charts. The house is counted whole-sign from the sidereal lagna; many astrologers repeat the reading from the Moon sign.
