Common misreadings
- "Saturn in the 5th denies children." Tradition speaks of fewer or later children, never judged from one planet. Jupiter, the 5th lord and the navamsa are all part of the reading.
- Forgetting the lagna. For Libra lagna this is a yogakaraka in its own trikona; for Sagittarius lagna a debilitated 2nd and 3rd lord. The two are nothing alike.
- Treating slow learning as poor intelligence. Saturn gives depth and retention; the pace is not the measure of the mind.
- Using the Western 5th house. In a tropical, quadrant-house chart Saturn may fall elsewhere. Houses here are sidereal and whole-sign, and many astrologers repeat the reading from the Moon sign.
