Anuradha's side of a gun milan is set by a deva gana, a female deer yoni, Madhya nadi and a Moon that stays in Scorpio for all four padas. The table above shows its full scores running from 8.5 to 31.5 with Anuradha as groom and 7.5 to 31 with Anuradha as bride, and its highest usual total, 31, is with Jyeshtha in both roles.
As groom, Anuradha has more pairings in the good band than in either of the other bands that it reaches. As bride the picture is a little flatter. Both are worth reading with the reasons in mind.
What Anuradha brings
Anuradha is ruled by Saturn, with Mitra, god of friendship and agreements, as its deity, and a lotus or an archway as its symbol. The matching inputs:
| Input | Anuradha | Koota it decides |
|---|---|---|
| Gana | Deva | Gana, 6 points |
| Yoni | Deer (female) | Yoni, 4 points |
| Nadi | Madhya | Nadi, 8 points |
| Moon sign | Scorpio, all padas | Varna, vashya, graha maitri, bhakoot |
The deer's male counterpart is Jyeshtha, which also sits wholly in Scorpio. Because Anuradha does not cross a sign line, ranges in its row come only from partners that do.
The usual scores
With Anuradha as groom the usual totals divide 6 below 18, 10 from 18 to 24½, 11 from 25 to 32 and none above 32. As bride, 8, 10, 9 and 0.
Jyeshtha leads at 31 both ways. It is a rakshasa star, so gana gives only 1 of 6, but the two share the deer yoni and the Scorpio Moon and have different nadis. Rohini follows at 29.5 as groom and 27.5 as bride; Rohini's Taurus sits opposite Scorpio.
Uttara Phalguni is an instructive cell. With Anuradha as groom its usual score is 28, but the range runs 28 to 31.5: the single Leo pada of Uttara Phalguni scores higher than its three Virgo padas. As bride it is 26, range 26 to 29.5. Purva Bhadrapada (27.5 as groom, range 25–27.5) and Hasta (26 as bride) complete the top group.
The weakest as groom are Chitra and Dhanishta at 13 each and Bharani at 16.5. All three are Madhya nadi, like Anuradha.
Gana, yoni and tara notes
A deva gana never scores 0. Anuradha gets 6 with deva partners, 6 with manushya brides when it is the groom, 5 with manushya grooms when it is the bride, and 1 with rakshasa stars.
The deer's sworn enemy is the dog, whose nakshatras are Ardra and Mula, and yoni scores 0 of 4 with both. Counting tara from Anuradha, vipat lands on Ashwini, Magha and Mula; pratyari on Krittika, Uttara Phalguni and Uttara Ashadha; vadha on Mrigashira, Chitra and Dhanishta. Mula therefore meets two setbacks at once, yoni and tara, though tara costs only 1.5 of its 3 points. Some schools count tara from the bride only, and South Indian porutham systems have their own rules for these star relations.
The Madhya nadi group
Anuradha shares Madhya nadi with Bharani, Mrigashira, Pushya, Purva Phalguni, Chitra, Purva Ashadha, Dhanishta and Uttara Bhadrapada. With each, the nadi koota scores 0 of 8, the condition the texts name nadi dosha. Texts do list exceptions, but for these eight partners none of the three that our engine checks can apply, since none of them is Anuradha and none has a Scorpio Moon.
The one possible exception is a pair of Anuradha Moons in different padas. The engine flags it and does not alter the score; some astrologers treat it as a full cancellation, others as partial relief. A few regional traditions also treat nadi more lightly for certain stars.
After the numbers
Mitra's nakshatra is about friendship and keeping one's word, which is a sensible lens for a marriage too. A full kundli matching looks beyond the Moon to manglik status, the 7th house, the navamsa and each person's dasha, and it still leaves room for the two people to talk. See the nakshatra compatibility chart for every other star's page.
