Common misreadings
- Reading "malefic" as bad. In an upachaya house a malefic is classically welcome; the Sun here is often an asset.
- Fixing sibling outcomes. The traditional line about siblings is a theme to check against Mars and the 3rd lord, not a statement about your family.
- Missing the 9th. The aspect on the house of the father and fortune is half of what this placement does.
- Assuming instant results. Upachaya houses improve with time, so judging the placement by early life alone can mislead.
