In Vedic astrology the Scorpio that counts is sidereal Vrishchika, fixed to the stars by the Lahiri ayanamsa and running about 24 degrees behind the Scorpio of Western, tropical charts. So a Western "Venus in Scorpio" is often Venus in Libra in the kundli, and a Western Sagittarius Venus can land in sidereal Scorpio. Here Venus, the planet of love and pleasure, sits in Mars's fixed water sign, and the placement is read as deep, private and intense: affection that wants trust and wholeness, not casual charm.
Venus in the scorpion's sign
Venus is the karaka of love, marriage, art, beauty, comfort and vehicles. Scorpio is water, fixed (sthira), even and feminine, the 8th sign of the kalapurusha, associated with the reproductive organs and the north, and symbolised by the scorpion. The 8th is the house of the hidden, of shared resources, research and transformation, so Venus here looks beneath the surface.
Tendencies tradition associates with it:
- All or nothing. Commitment is serious; half-measures in love feel empty.
- Privacy. Feelings are guarded and revealed slowly, to few people.

The contrast with Aries is instructive. In Aries, Mars's fiery, outward side meets Venus; in Scorpio, it is the watery, inward side. Same lord, same dignity, very different taste. Mars's own condition matters: a strong Mars gives this Venus courage and loyalty, an afflicted Mars can bring conflict or secrecy into relationships.

- Jyeshtha, all four padas (16°40′–30°, lord Mercury): the eldest, the protector. Mercury, another friend of Venus, adds wit and strategy; Jyeshtha adds pride, responsibility and sometimes a guarded heart.
The aspect on Taurus

- "Scorpio Venus is dangerous in love." Intensity is not harm. Many people with this Venus are the most loyal of partners.
