The Capricorn of Vedic astrology is sidereal Makara, located against the stars by the Lahiri ayanamsa and sitting about 24 degrees behind Western, tropical Capricorn. Many people with a Western "Venus in Capricorn" will therefore find Venus in Sagittarius in their kundli, and a Western Aquarius Venus can fall here. Venus in Saturn's workshop
Venus is the karaka of love, marriage, art, beauty, comfort and vehicles. Capricorn is earth, movable (chara), even and feminine, the 10th sign of the kalapurusha, linked with the knees and the south. Its symbol is the makara, a crocodile-like sea creature with a deer's head, climbing out of the water toward the mountain.
What tradition associates with this Venus:
- Love proven over time. Slow to open, faithful once committed; actions count more than words.
- Mature taste. Classic design, heritage objects, well-made things, restraint over flash.
- Beauty as a profession. Architecture, jewellery, fashion houses, luxury trade, arts administration.
- Duty in relationships. Commitment is taken as a responsibility and is honoured through difficulties.
- The shadow. Reserve that looks cold, love bound too tightly to status or security, or delay in expressing feeling.
Dignity: a mutual friend's sign
In Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra's natural friendships, Venus and Saturn are friends both ways. Capricorn is therefore a friend's sign for Venus throughout its 30 degrees, as is Aquarius, Saturn's other sign. There is no Malavya yoga here, since that needs Taurus, Libra or Pisces.
The Venus–Saturn friendship is one of the most practical partnerships in Jyotish. Saturn is the yogakaraka for Taurus and Libra lagnas, and Venus returns the favour as the yogakaraka for Capricorn and Aquarius lagnas. A strong, dignified Saturn gives this Venus endurance and quiet authority; an afflicted Saturn can make it overly cautious or joyless.

- Dhanishta, padas 1 and 2 (23°20′–30°, lord Mars): the drum and wealth. Rhythm, performance and material success; a lively end to a sober sign.

Venus's single 7th drishti from Capricorn falls on Cancer, the Moon's sign. The Capricorn–Cancer axis links career and public standing with home and feeling; this Venus often works hard to build a secure, comfortable home for those it loves.
By lagna
Capricorn is the natural 10th house, so Venus in the 10th house is the closest parallel: career, reputation and public work.

- "Capricorn Venus is cold." Reserve is not a lack of love; it often means love that lasts.
- Treating Saturn as a burden here. Saturn is Venus's friend, not a spoiler.
