The 4th house is called sukha bhava, the house of happiness, and also bandhu bhava, the house of relatives. - The home. A well-kept, attractive house, often with attention to decor, a garden, music or good food. Tradition also takes Venus as a significator of conveyances, and this is one of the classic placements associated with comfortable vehicles.
- The mother. A warm, affectionate relationship, and often a mother described as graceful, artistic or fond of comfort. The Moon and the 4th lord still carry most of the mother's story.

- Gemini lagna. The 4th is Virgo, where Venus is debilitated, while ruling the 5th and 12th. Digbala still helps. Comfort may come through care, detail and practical work rather than ease, and neecha-bhanga conditions are worth checking.
- Capricorn lagna. Venus is the yogakaraka (5th and 10th lord) in Aries, a neutral sign, and with digbala. Home and career tend to support each other.
In the Moon's sign Cancer (Aries lagna) and the Sun's sign Leo (Taurus lagna), Venus is in an enemy's house and tends to work harder for the same comfort. In Capricorn and Aquarius (Libra and Scorpio lagna) it is with its friend Saturn, and in Gemini (Pisces lagna) with its friend Mercury.

Venus has only its 7th-house drishti, and from the 4th it falls on the 10th: career, status, public action and authority. A strong, well-placed 4th lord makes property, vehicles and domestic peace more reliable; a weak or afflicted one means Venus is furnishing a house that may still feel unsettled. Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra gives the framework used here: the 4th as the house of happiness, mother, property and conveyances, the Moon as its karaka, Venus's digbala in the 4th, its 7th aspect, and Malavya yoga when Venus occupies a kendra in its own or exaltation sign. Traditional authors who list results house by house are generally favourable to Venus in the 4th, linking it with vehicles, a good dwelling, ornaments, friends and domestic happiness. Those readings assume a reasonably placed Venus; debility, combustion or strong affliction are weighed against them.
Common misreadings
- Treating it as a promise of property. Digbala gives Venus strength here; the actual acquisition of a home or vehicle depends on the 4th lord, the 2nd and 11th, and timing.
- Ignoring the 10th. Venus's aspect on the house of career is often a quiet asset, not a side note.
- Forgetting that Venus rules other houses. For Sagittarius lagna Venus rules the 6th and 11th, for Gemini the 5th and 12th; the comfort of the 4th is coloured by those.
