Ketu in the 10th house places the node of detachment in the house of career, status, public action and reputation. It tends to give genuine skill at work together with a curious lack of hunger for the title, the corner office or the public credit that usually come with it.
Many people with Ketu here are very good at what they do and slightly puzzled by how much others care about rank. Their working life often has one or two sharp turns in it.
Ketu at the top of the chart
The 10th house, karma bhava, is the highest point of the chart: profession, authority, the actions a person is known for, and standing in society. It has several karakas, the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn, and Ketu is not among them. That makes their condition worth checking alongside the house lord.

Ketu's generally accepted 7th aspect falls on the 4th house of home, mother, property and inner peace. The nodes' 5th and 9th aspects are disputed between traditions and are left out here.
Ketu in the 10th always means Rahu in the 4th. This is the mirror of the axis described on Ketu in the 4th house: here the hunger sits at home and the detachment sits in public life. Rahu in the 4th can bring a restless domestic life, a wish for property or several changes of residence, while Ketu in the 10th keeps ambition cool. Some people with this axis give their energy to building a home or looking after family and treat work as a means rather than an identity.
The 10th lord and lagna examples
Ketu rules nothing for any lagna, so the lagna matters through the 10th lord.
- Taurus lagna: Ketu in Aquarius, dispositor Saturn, lord of the 9th and 10th and yogakaraka for Taurus. A strong Saturn can turn Ketu's detachment into steady, disciplined achievement, often in a field with public service in it.
- Pisces lagna: Ketu in Sagittarius, dispositor Jupiter, lord of the 1st and 10th. Career and self are closely tied; Jupiter's placement shows whether the work becomes a vocation.
- Aquarius lagna: Ketu in Scorpio, dispositor Mars, lord of the 3rd and 10th. Initiative and craft come forward; a well-placed Mars favours technical or physical work.
A node in a kendra joined with a strong trikona lord is traditionally said to carry that lord's good results. Ketu with the 9th or 5th lord in the 10th is therefore read with more promise than Ketu alone.

- Reading it as "no career". Ketu here removes attachment, not ability. Many people with it hold steady, respected jobs.
